AMLA(INDIAN GOOSEBERRY)

AMLA , also known as Indian Gooseberry is a translucent green fruit derives it name from Sanskrit word ‘Amlaki’ meaning “nectar of life”, can protect us against countless ailments, be it the common cold, cancer, or infertility. In traditional Indian medicine, dried and fresh fruits of the plant are used. All parts of the plant are used in various ayurvedic medicine herbal preparations, including the fruit, seed, leaves, root, bark and flowers.

Amla has eight times more vitamin C than an orange, twice the antioxidant power of acai berry, and around 17 times that of a pomegranate. It is commonly used in shampoos, inks and hair oils. It has various health benefits.

BENEFITS OF AMLA

1.Highly nutritious

Amla are low in calories and fat, yet packed with nutrients. It can be eaten raw or cooked. Amla are best enjoyed fresh and can be eaten on their own or added to cereal, yogurt, salads, or a variety of other dishes.

2. Fight the common cold

Amla is a reservoir of vitamin C, which helps relieve a cold and runny nose. The vitamin c in amla is absorbed more easily by the body compared to store-bought supplements.

3. Amla improves eyesight

Daily consumption of amla has been linked to improvement in overall eye health. Amla can reduce cataract problems, as well as prevent reddening, itching, and watering of eyes.

4. Amla builds immunity

Amla’s antibacterial and astringent properties boost one’s immune system. Amla is a potent antioxidant agent, it can prevent this oxidation and help in protecting the cell.

5. Amla beautifies hair

Amla, like curry leaves, is a proven tonic for hair. It has plenty of essential fatty acids which penetrate deep into the follicles and slow down greying, prevents dandruff, and strengthens hair follicles.

 

Amla are nutritious, low-calorie fruits that are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Though research on amla specifically is limited, many of the nutrients in these berries have been linked to significant health benefits. Amla are a wonderful, healthy fruit to include in your diet as a snack or flavorful addition to meals.
